Description of the tour
Explorer canyon tours are for those who have never been canyoning before and are in moderate physical shape. Tours are between 3 to 4 hours depending on the size of the group.
Please let us know how everybody feels about heights and we will find the canyon that suits you best. Jumps and slides in these tours are non-existent or can be avoided.
No swimming is involved but be prepared to be wet during the whole descent.
We will encounter some waterfalls and other obstacles that we will pass using specific canyoning techniques. On an Explorer tour, you don’t need to have previous experience just a sense of adventure. Our guides will teach you the rest!
We are guiding in a multitude of canyons that allow us to operate during most of the season. We usually plan the trip the day before the tour to decide which canyon is best suited to the group, depending on your skills, expectations, the canyons’ conditions, as well as the weather forecast. If you already know of a specific canyon you wish to descend, please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.
Meeting location and progress of the tour
We meet our clients 15 minutes before the start time of the tour at a suitable location along Abraham Lake and then drive together the few last kilometers to the parking area of the canyon.
There, we gear up and have a short talk as to the plan for the day.
Then we hike up to the upper entrance of the canyon (usually between 30 and 60 minutes of hiking).
From there, we descend the canyon (between 1:30 and 2:30 hours inside the canyon, depending on the tour and the size of the group).
At the bottom of the canyon route, we hike back to the car.
The meeting time and the end of the day can be arranged depending on your expectations, the size of the group, and the conditions of the canyon.
Technical equipment
We have all the specific gear for you to stay safe (harness, helmet, etc.).
You only need to bring a bathing suit, a jacket (windbreaker, light rain jacket or hardshell), some shoes (Running, approach, or light hiking shoes that can go in the water), and a towel.
Some water (1 liter per person) and snacks or a lunch for full-day tours.
Cancellation Policy
Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 48 hours notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
No-shows or late arrival past 15min of the start of the tour will be charged the full price.
